The Talking Page Literacy Organization was formed in 1998 with the purpose of creating "Early Childhood Literacy in America". We feel that every child should have the opportunity to be able to Write, Spell and then Read English by the age of six. In 1998, the organization provided research reports, testimonials, and facts about early childhood writing, spelling and reading programs that are effective in teaching young children basic educational skills to members of State Legislatures, Congress, School Boards and Parents.

In March of 1998, the board decided to launch a national campaign to provide Iow income families with our Early Childhood and Family Literacy Program� using the SONO audio system. The literacy program is based on current research. Neurolinguistics is the scientific study of how the human brain learns and processes written and oral language.

This program teaches 4-10 year old children how to Write, Spell and then Read in 9 weeks. Its interactive design teaches illiterate parents as they teach their children.

In March 2001, we developed the English Linguistics Literacy Program� as an intervention or strategy to teach English literacy skills to students in grades 6 to 12 and adults. The SONO audio system and a neurolinguistic instruction method helps form the neural foundations for learning to write, spell and read English. The neuro-imaging instruction process, through the four learning pathways to the mind: seeing, hearing, saying and writing, is how to connect the sound-to-BRAIN-to-written symbol link for instant recall later. The process is a scientifically reliable basis for teaching linguistically accurate spelling and precise English speech. The program provides measurable outcomes at the conclusion of the instruction period.

On September 12, 2002, the California State Board of Education (SBE) approved The Talking Page Literacy Organization as a provider of supplemental educational services to schools in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Sacramento, San Joaguin, Alameda, and Contra Costa Counties.

Pursuant to State Board action, "the approval of these providers is provisional for one year at which time an evaluation shall be made of each provider's success in improving the academic achievement of students."

California School Districts play a very important part in recycling the program repeatedly within the districts. The district offices interface between the schools and The Talking Page Literacy Organization to intially place the program into the community and to provide ongoing implementation support.

The 5-10 -minute per day lessons of the literacy program is designed for the lifestyles of low income families, which have a large number of single parent head of household families.

• Some private schools teach 4-6 year old children how to write, spell and read before going to 1st grade.

• Low income families do not have a wide access to these private schools.

• 40 to 50% of low income children do not learn to write or read by the time they reach 3rd grade in public school. This results in a school dropout rate of 30-40% of low income students and produces 1,234,000 functionally illiterate young men and women per year.

• Functionally illiterate people can not read or fill out job applications and can face a lifetime of poverty.
